SAMOENS, SIXT & THE GRAND MASSIF

Welcome to Samoens, one of most beautiful historic towns in France. Situated in the heart of the Grand Massif domain, which links to the neighbouring areas of Sixt, Morillon, Les Carroz and Flaine, there are hundreds of kilometres of downhill skiing, ski touring, trekking, mountain biking, climbing and phenomenal airspace for paragliding and hand gliding.

Samoens & Sixt are situated in areas of limited development meaning you will always find some time for quality peace and quiet. You may want to indulge in the wide range of top restaurants, get hold of a bottle of delicious local wine or taste some real savoyard delicacies at the morning food market.

Samoens is distinguished as one of the most beautiful towns in France and is also the only ski resort in France to be classified as a national heritage site. Sixt is equally famous for its position within an area of outstanding natural beauty, with its most famous waterfall named “Queen of the Alps”. Add to this stunning views of Mont Blanc, fresh mountain lakes, vast waterfalls and unique alpine flora and fauna, and you have yourself an absolutely unique holiday experience for people of all ages and interests.

What our Guests say

  • We ate dinner under the stars by candlelight, watching the mountains turn through all hues of pink and orange as we did so. If anyone is looking for a peaceful retreat with comfort and fun then I strongly recommend Mountain People.

    — Tim, London —
  • This place was truly amazing! The barn was the perfect blend of rustic renovation and vacation comfort. The view from every direction was breathtaking.

    — Bobi Jo, Portland —
  • The lovely old farm house is warm and cozy, with exposed stone and wood beams throughout. It has been simply and tastefully refurbished and decorated, but has retained its native rustic charm. We stayed in bedroom next to the creek behind the house, and could hear the sound of mountain water at night. Pretty hard to beat!

    — Andrew, Liverpool —
  • A real hidden gem for a rural getaway. We couldn’t ask for a more perfect setting. Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer!

    — Annelize, Cape Town —
